Puntone di Scarlino has made a name for itself in recent years as a port for pleasure craft, and especially as a site for regattas. Sailing enthusiasts know that the patch of water in front of the port, the Marina di Scarlino, asks for perfect regatta courses where wind is never in short supply.
From Puntone di Scarlino any number of excursions are possible in the Tuscan Maremma district and the Tuscan archipelago.
The burgh of Scarlino, just 5 km from Puntone, holds a charming castle, used today for events and performances and offering a stupendous view of the Gulf of Follonica.
Follonica, the area’s largest town, is only 4 km away.
Stretching for quite some distance along the sea, it can boast many kilometres of clean, well kept beaches. Follonica also offers a large number of nightspots and pubs with live music, plus a schedule of summer events designed to please everyone, both large and small.
Another site of noteworthy interest is Massa Marittima, with its charming historic core and a cathedral square that visitors find delightful.
In terms of seaside attractions, the town offers one of Italy’s most beautiful beaches, based on the rankings of the Italian Environmental League. |
